Volunteer Roles
There are lots of different ways in which you can get involved as a volunteer. Whether it’s helping out in the gardens, bringing the history of The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens alive, welcoming visitors, or providing valuable admin support, there is a range of roles available. If you fancy doing something different or know someone keen to volunteer here, take a look at the different roles and see what might inspire you or them. In addition, ad hoc volunteering opportunities arise throughout the year, such as helping out at events, and we’ll keep you informed about these. And of course, one of the best ways to find out about a role is to talk to a volunteer who is actually doing it.
We have also included in this section information that is specific to particular roles. So, for example, if you are a visitor guide, you can download a document that gives tips on conducting guided tours. And we have also included risk assessments. Please take a look at the following risk assessments which are relevant to every role: Full Site Risk Assessment (NB please note that you will see in this document what is relevant to volunteerss); Risk Assessment General Volunteering.
Understanding the risks associated with your volunteer role is important to keeping you safe when working here. We have also developed risk assessements for each role where required. Please take a look a those relevent to your role (you can find them in each ‘role’ page) and if you have any questions or comments please raise these with your line manager.
