Depending on your role, you may find it helpful to familiarise yourself with information that visitors sometimes ask for such as opening times, accessibility, entry prices, Friends of the Palace and so on. This information is on The Bishop’s Palace website and visitors really appreciate it if we can give them answers to their questions or point them to the website.
We include here other information that does not have an obvious home!
The Bevy Room
The volunteers have a dedicated space, whether that’s for a coffee, a biscuit, or a catch up. It’s located in the gatehouse behind the main gate (on the side of the TV). Inside is a table, chairs, a kettle, fridge, and a microwave for you to use. You can also feed the Palace swans here at around 1.00pm. Open the window and wait for them to ring the bell!

Annual Visit England Report 2026
Once again the Palace scored highly with lots of positive comments made. The quality rating score this year is 95%: a 1% rise on last year’s score of 94%. This makes the Bishop’s Palace eligible for nomination for the Gold Attraction Accolade and the Quality Food and Drink once more. As always, areas for improvement have been highlighted and the management team will be looking at these and assessing what can be done and/or afforded. But with such a high score, it is fine margins now to make further imporvements but the Palace is always up for a challenge! You can read the summary report here. Please note that this is not for dissemination or comment outside of the Palace.
