The Bishop’s Palace is proud to announce that it has been successful in winning funding from the Historic Houses Small Grants Project for our “Gardens and Wildlife of The Bishop’s Palace Outreach Project”, in collaboration with Museum To You.

The grant funds projects with a clear public benefit and a legacy to leave beyond their completion and the HHS committee felt that the Palace’s project was “innovative and affordable in bringing local heritage to a ‘hard to reach’ audience and were thrilled to be able to support it”.

The aim of the project is to make the Palace accessible to community members who are currently unable to visit, and to rekindle memories for past visitors, fostering a stronger connection with our site.

Engaging with harder-to-reach older adults from community groups, the project will educate participants about life at The Bishop’s Palace, both past and present. Sessions will combat social isolation, enrich lives, and build community across a diverse range of care homes, with participants benefiting from increased social interaction, learning and knowledge sharing, and a sense of connection and community beyond the care setting.
