The Bishop’s Table Café

Sunday roasts, all-day-breakfasts and tasty lunches;  making the most of delicious, locally sourced food …..

Located in the heart of the free area at The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens lies the award-winning Bishop’s Table, our ever-popular café with a view like no other over the Palace’s croquet lawn.

The Bishop’s Table was named after Bishop Ken’s tradition of inviting twelve poor men and women of Wells to share a meal at his table when in residence at The Palace. Bishop Ken was Bishop here from 1685-1691.

Serving delicious, locally sourced homemade food and some of the best coffee and cake you’ll find in Wells, it’s now the perfect place to meet friends for breakfast, lunch, a delicious take-away or our tasty Sunday lunches!

  • Our takeaway packaging is made of Vegware and is compostable, biodegradable and eco-friendly.
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside.
