Young Photographers encouraged to share their skills in competition and free workshops at The Bishop’s Palace

Are you aged 11-18, enjoy taking photos, fancy winning £50 and seeing your work exhibited at The Bishop’s Palace?

Young photographers are being encouraged to enter a new competition at The Bishop’s Palace in Wells, which is also providing free Photo Workshops with a professional photographer as part of the event.

There are three categories for the competition including Nature, Water and Buildings.  All entrants must be 11-18 years old on 15th Sept 2024 and there are two age categories: 11-14 years and 15-18 years.

Siobhan Goodwin, Community Engagement Manager said “This competition was the idea of young people who have been volunteering at the Palace this year as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.  They thought it would be a great way to get more young people involved at The Bishop’s Palace.

We’re asking that all photographs are taken in or around The Bishop’s Palace. Entrants don’t need an entrance ticket to take part as there are lots of lovely views around the moat and in the area by the Bishop’s Table café  In fact, we’ve already received some fabulous entries!

Interested?  Why not increase your chances of winning by attending a FREE workshop to learn some new skills from a professional photographer where you can get loads of tips and advice.  Workshops will be running on Monday 19th August (11am – 1pm) and Friday 30th August (2pm – 4pm).

Workshop places are limited and do need to be booked by emailing [email protected]

Competition Deadline: 4pm on 15th September 2024.  More information about the competition and workshops can be found at: https://bishopspalace.org.uk/event/young-photographers-competition/
