Fit for a King: The Costumes of Wolf Hall Revealed at The Bishop’s Palace

This September, visitors to The Bishop’s Palace can explore the world of Tudor court life through the original costumes worn in the BBC’s award-winning drama Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light.

Filmed in part at the Palace itself, the series brought Henry VIII’s turbulent final years to the screen.

Now, for a limited time, these exquisitely detailed costumes will be on display in a special exhibition inside the Palace.

Featured costumes include:

  • Henry VIII (Damian Lewis)
  • Jane Seymour (Kate Phillips)
  • Lady Mary (Lilit Lesser)
  • Catherine Howard (Summer Richards)

Visitors can also enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how The Bishop’s Palace was used during filming, with props and set photography on display.

Several scenes were filmed on site and visitors are welcome to explore those same spaces as part of their visit.

The costumes are on loan from the world-renowned Angels Costume Company, whose work has featured in multiple Oscar and BAFTA-winning productions.
