Physical Wellbeing
We value physical wellbeing at The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens and we have a number of events and groups throughout the year to encourage visitors to feel the benefits of exercising in our open spaces.
Please see below for details of our current and forthcoming physical wellbeing classes:
Nature Connections Group
Our Nature Connections Group will be running on Friday mornings this summer. These six sessions are for people living with dementia and their carers who are invited to spend a relaxing couple of hours in our beautiful setting.
If you know anyone whose physical and mental health would benefit from connecting with the natural world around them, more information and free places can be booked by contacting the Palace’s Community Engagement Manager Email: [email protected] or call 01749 988111 (ext 202).
Tai Chi For Wellbeing
We’re delighted to be continuing to host weekly Tai Chi for Wellbeing classes in our magnificent gardens throughout 2024 (Thursdays, 11am-12pm).
Led by local practitioner John Beasley, who has over 20 years of Tai Chi experience, the sessions are suitable for all regardless of age or ability and run every Thursday from 11am to 12pm. Tai Chi is a non-competitive martial art known for both its defence techniques and its health benefits. As an exercise, it comprises gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness.
Booking is not required but attendees will require a valid entrance ticket to the Palace. There is no additional cost for the sessions although an optional £5 donation in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice can be made. This event is included with any general admission ticket to The Bishop’s Palace and Gardens, including The Bishop’s Palace Admission Ticket and Membership.
So, take control of your wellbeing this Spring and join John and others in the beautiful surroundings of the Palace Gardens (or occasionally inside in bad weather).
