World War 2 re-enactment weekend at The Bishop’s Palace

Travel back to wartime Britain and experience the sights, sounds and spirit of the 1940s at The Bishop’s Palace.

Our Britain at War Day brings history to life with costumed performers, authentic activities and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

Children and adults alike can enjoy a wide selection of traditional games from the 1940s and beyond, offering laughter, challenge and a touch of nostalgia.

Step into the past and discover:

• the importance of secret messages in Codes & Cyphers
• what food was available, and what it was really like in Living on Rations
• how to survive behind enemy lines in Escape & Evasion

With engaging storytelling and plenty of hands-on experiences, this is more than just an event, it’s an immersive journey into the resilience, ingenuity, and community spirit of wartime Britain.
