Visit Father Christmas at The Bishop’s Palace
Father Christmas returns to The Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset, bringing Christmas spirit, gifts and sharing the magic of the season. Explore the beautifully decorated rooms of the Palace, do some colouring whilst you wait, then spend time with Father Christmas in his grotto. Each child will receive a gift during their visit.
Dates & Timings
Visits to see Father Christmas will take place on the following days between 9.30am-5pm.

Explore the beautifully decorated rooms of the Palace, do some colouring whilst you wait, then spend time with Father Christmas in his grotto. Each child will receive a gift during their visit.
This will be a VERY popular event so secure your tickets as soon as you can.
And a reminder that each visiting child requires a ticket for their visit to Father Christmas, which will include entry to the Palace and gardens for that day, as well as a gift.
Please note that tickets to see Father Christmas are for children only. Accompanying adults require a valid Annual Pass or Day Ticket (please see booking information below).
Booking Information
- Tickets are £14 per child who must be accompanied by a paying adult with a valid Annual Pass or Day Ticket. Annual Passes and Day Tickets can be purchased here.
- Tickets to see Father Christmas do not include entry to the Sparkle Christmas Illuminations.
- Each timed slot has a capacity of two children. If there are more than 2 children in your family please book the next slot after and we will ensure you all go in together for your visit with Father Christmas.
- Please ensure fill out your child’s name correctly where it asks.
- Please book the right age category for your child so we can ensure they receive an appropriate gift.
- Please read your confirmation email for details of where to go on the day of your booking.
When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets went on sale at midday on Wednesday 24th September for Friends of the Palace/Members.

Tickets for the general public went on sale at midday on Thursday 25th September.

How much do tickets cost?
£14 – we’ve kept the price the same as last year.
Do the tickets include the adult?
No, children visiting Father Christmas must be accompanied by an adult with a valid Annual Pass, Friend of the Palace membership, Day Ticket or Joint Ticket.
How do I buy a ticket?
Tickets to visit Father Christmas can be booked online via the button below, or in the Ticket Office.
Can I book over the phone?
Tickets to visit Father Christmas cannot be purchased over the phone.
Can I change my time slot once I've booked?
Yes, but only if there are other slots still available – you’ll need to contact our admin/events team via [email protected]
Can I get a refund if I decide I don't want to come anymore?
No, as with all our events refunds are only given if we cancel the event.
Who will be Father Christmas this year?
We have the same Father Christmas as last year.

No – this is a separate event.

Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children get to spend 5 minutes with Father Christmas and his helpful elf!
