Join naturalist Steve Norris on an autumnal stroll around the beautiful Palace gardens to discover the hidden wildlife within.

Squirrels and wood mice are busy building their winter food stores and, with the breeding season over, many smaller birds forage together in mixed flocks.

Learn which species of birds arrive to overwinter with us and how our resident species adapt to cope with the shorter days.

We’ll look out for the stunning Kingfishers that return to the moat each autumn, the diminutive goldcrests that tirelessly search for insects in the yew trees and keep our eyes peeled for birds of prey and other surprises overhead.

There will be plenty of time to chat, ask questions and learn ID tips. You may want to bring a pair of binoculars.
