Botanical Sculptures Exhibition by Jenny Pickford

Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition at The Bishop’s Palace, Wells

22 May – 12 September 2026 | 9:30am – 5:30pm

This summer, visitors to The Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset can experience a striking outdoor sculpture exhibition set within the Palace’s beautiful 14 acres of RHS partner gardens.

Artist-blacksmith Jenny Pickford brings an extraordinary collection of large-scale floral sculptures to the historic gardens, creating a unique meeting point between contemporary art and the natural landscape.

Displayed across the gardens, these sculptures invite visitors to slow down, explore, and see the gardens in a new way.

Sculptures Inspired by the Natural World

Jenny Pickford’s work draws inspiration from the forms, movement and resilience of plants and flowers.

Each sculpture combines forged steel and blown glass, bringing together the strength of metal with the delicate luminosity of glass. Solid steel stems rise into flowing botanical forms, crowned with glowing glass elements that catch and reflect the changing light of the gardens.

The result is a powerful contrast between strength and fragility, permanence and bloom, and movement and stillness. Placed throughout the gardens, the sculptures appear both dramatic and harmonious within their surroundings.
