Family Fun

Are you looking for Things To Do with the Kids?

We’ve got so much for families to do at The Bishop’s Palace - whatever the weather, you can always have a great day out.

If you think you’ll visit more than three times in 12 months then Family Membership may just be for you.

Kids under 5 years old also go FREE. Great news!

Holiday Fun!

This half term (February 10th-18th), come along to take part in our ‘Heads and Tails’ trail around the Palace and Gardens - if you make it to the end, you can take some time to play around the Dragon’s Head and Tail in our Dragon’s Lair Play Area.

12th Feb: Make-It Monday! Join the team in the Undercroft for our family crafting sessions! The theme is “Heads & Tails” and activities will include making crazy animals and puppets with wacky heads and tails!

16th Feb: Nature Ninjas. Head over to the Community Garden to take part in our Family Gardening Activities. See if you can spot the first signs of Spring and find out more about what you can plant at this time of year.

Keep an eye out for future family activity dates here!

Other Family Activities

There are so many things to do with kids at the Palace - little ones love to explore our 14 acres of gardens, trying to spot the swans and their cygnets - if you’re lucky, you might even see them ringing the bell for their food! We’ve got waterfalls and springs to see and a lovely pond for a spot of pond dipping in the Community Garden. There are trees to climb and places to hide for a fantastic game of hide and seek in our Arboretum and we’ve got a selection of children’s trails and explorer packs to take you through our gardens! Head inside the Palace for a spot of dressing up, a giant stained-glass jigsaw and some dragon-spotting. In fine weather, we have a great selection of giant garden games right by the cafe, so Mum and Dad can have a coffee whilst the kids are entertained.

Boots and brolly day - has it started raining again? Doesn’t matter, you’ll still find things to do with the kids right here!

Put up your brolly & Visit the Well pools - see them bubble with all the water passing underneath them. Walk through the medieval Palace, see portraits of past bishops, find the green dragons and complete the stained glass jigsaw puzzle. Visit the bishop’s private chapel, look up, down, around, behind everything - there’s lots of amazing details to spot. Dress up as a bishop or a medieval villager…or be a queen for a day!
