Come and enjoy learning new skills and meeting new people in a stained glass workshop designed to let you learn in a relaxed and informal setting. You will learn to cut glass, solder, design and construct a panel of your choice (or a set design), learning all the techniques required to complete a project.
The course tutor is Richard Pelham, an experienced craftsperson of 30 years’ experience and the owner of Glastonbury Stained Glass. His work is inspired by the myths and place of Glastonbury.
The cost is £95 for the course. This includes the practice materials for cutting glass and other sundries. Tools will be provided for the sessions but advice will be given on what tools and materials to purchase for the project. Typical costs of materials for an A4 sized panel are £15-50 depending on complexity and type of glass e.g. machine made or mouth-blown. Basic tools vary in price from £20-30 and all materials can be bought online from a number of suppliers.
You are welcome to attend the afternoon course if it is not possible for you to attend the morning one, as Richard will be offering support in both.
Please note that you will need some strength in your arm – the same as required to cut a 12-inch pizza. Neither The Bishop’s Palace nor Richard Pelham can be held responsible for any incidents that may occur during this course.
The course runs from 18th March to 29th April 2018, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, in the Stableyard Room of The Bishop’s Palace. There are 12 places available. Please note there will be no class on the following dates: 1st April and 15th April. To book, contact or visit the Palace Shop (01749 988111 ext 205)
