‘Spirit of Somerset’ Exhibition

‘Spirit of Somerset’ is the latest multi-disciplinary exhibition by Made in Glastonbury, a collective of seven artists, based in the Glastonbury area.

Drawing together talents from the fields of photography, wood carving, furniture making, collage and painting, the exhibition room at the Bishop’s Palace will showcase highlights from this group of talented artists, combining to create an engaging body of work celebrating the skills and art of their home county of Somerset.

Meet the artists:

Sue Allen draws on a love of local flora and fauna to create distinctive paintings of wildlife and landscapes.

Kate Dimambro is known for her vibrant and imaginative use of acrylic paints, turning to her travels, as well as fables and legends, for her source material.

Yulia Allen has a passion for painting on silk which she often makes into decorative items such as pillows.

Jan Billings incorporates her love of the sea into mixed media panels using natural materials such as shells, slate, beach glass and gemstones.

Stephen Spraggon is a self-taught photographer whose images are the result of meticulous planning and perseverance to capture the best light and conditions.

Belinda-Jane Miers’ affinity with the environment and concern for sustainability influence her wood art which is constructed entirely from locally reclaimed material.

Don Storey creates bespoke pieces of furniture and other wooden items, using native hardwoods sourced in Somerset and the surrounding area.

Entry to the exhibition is included in standard admission.
